well hello 2012

2011: Best year ever
Got engaged
graduated
got a big girl job
found a snazzy house to live in
got married to my bff hottie husband
went on an awesome trip to colorado
had happy/healthy/safe family members
bought a man truck for da hubs
rang in the new year in style!

2012 is going be a wonderful year, I can already tell.
Some of my goals for the year include serving God and others more, being more health conscious, and pursuing working for myself in some capacity.
Who knows what 2012 will bring but I can't wait to find out!

What are you hoping will happen in your life in 2012?

Taco Thursday

I think I can learn how to work this instagram thing. I really like it, I would just also like to not take awkward pictures of myself in the mirror.
My smart phone skills are about on par with my vespa riding skills - a little shaky.

I wanted to share my scarf/psuedo cowl with you because it is one of the first things I ever successfully finished knitting!
I am so bad about starting projects and never finishing them, leaving them strewn all over the floor in different rooms and tucked in the crevices of closets, never to see the light of day again.

My husband was a sweetie and took me out to Tijuana Flats for one of my favorite meals for lunch today, TACOS mmmmm so good. I then proceeded to take way too many pictures of the tacos, nibble on said tacos, and then regret how fast I ate dos tacos.

I hope you are having a lovely Thursday :) I'm working on getting all of my resolutions ready for the new year! How about you?

xoxo

Etsy?

Did you notice I changed my header? I really like how it turned out :)

In other news, I accidentally ordered something off of etsy from Thailand yesterday.
sooooo I guess I'll get it in about a month, oops.

Speaking of etsy, I'm also thinking of starting my own etsy store for all of my doodles and then doing an awesome blossom GIVEAWAY (so stay tuned y'all).

I know a lot of you gals and guys out there have an Etsy shop.
Any suggestions? general rants and raves about Etsy?

Gracias Santa

I hope everyone had a fantastic christmas! I'm still trying to learn how to work my present. Can you guess what it was? Here is my first shot at the blogger app!

How was your Christmas?
We sang happy birthday to Jesus and had a good ol' time :)

Merry Almost Christmas!

I really wanted to send out photo cards for Christmas this year.
I  even had grand plans of making my husband dress up all snazzy like and take a new picture of us looking all smiley and married.

But much to my husband's chagrin, I just didn't have the time to make him pose for endless photos, and then print and mail our little mugs to all of our family and friends.

I was too busy wrapping/shopping/baking/making awesome faces/arguing with people on how adorable the polar bears were on the white coke cans and why they were silly for getting so upset that the white cans looked too much like diet coke cans.
(unless of course, you are diabetic, then I can clearly understand your concern).
People are trying to sell these things on ebay for anywhere from $2-$100. What the what?

Anyways, back to the Christmas card - Instead I ended up making one off shutterfly with a wedding photo. I like it :) Hopefully we can get all snazzied up for a card next year and I won't have another soda debacle to argue with people over.

Merry almost Christmas everyone!

i heart sharpies

I love me some Christmas,
but my list making has really gotten out of control.

Presents lists,
my secret naughty and nice list,
grocery lists,
work to-do lists,
home to do lists,
things i would really like to do but probably will never get to do lists.
You get the picture.

and thus I have resorted to the sharpie pictogram you absolutely must get this done today or else bad things will happen list

so far its proving to be a winner,
although i do occasionally smudge it and confuse myself trying to decipher the smudges.
Still working on how to fix that one.
I'll put it on the list

um, I think I can? Accent Vlog

Ok everyone, be extra nice.

This is my first attempt EVER
(yes ever)
to make a shnazzy video thang

I was kind of nervous filming this...even though I was talking to myself
HA HA, strange, no?

anyhoos it's an accent vlog, got the idea from Alycia at Crowley Party.
Another wonderful bloggy friend over at lowercase letters made one as well!

I am acting kind of nervously dorky in it.
Enjoy!

Say the following words:
Aunt, route, wash, oil, theater, iron, salmon, caramel, fire, water, sure, data, ruin, crayon, toilet, New Orleans, pecan, both, again, probably, spitting image, Alabama, lawyer, coupon, mayonnaise, syrup, pajamas, caught
Answer these questions:
What is it called when you throw toilet paper on a house?
What is the bug that curls into a ball when you touch it?
What is the bubbly carbonated drink called?
What do you call gym shoes?
What do you say to address a group of people?
What do you call the kind of spider that has an oval-shaped body and extremely long legs?
What do you call your grandparents?
What do you call the wheeled contraption in which you carry groceries at the supermarket?
What do you call it when rain falls while the sun is shining?
What is the thing you use to change the TV channel?

:)

Occupy Advent with Advent Conspiracy

I have to admit I get a good chuckle out of sticking the word Occupy in front of words other than Wall Street or a particular city.

Occupy Grandma's house.
Occupy Candyland.
Occupy the dream.
Occupy Christmas.
Occupy Advent.

See how fun that is?
Anyways

I would like to introduce you to Advent Conspiracy.
This video has some pretty mind blowing facts that have really helped remind me of the true reason for da season.

man shaped cookies

I really wish my high school offered home economics class.
I'm fairly awesome at burning things
blackened chicken
blackened grouper
blackened cookies
blackened lasagna
you got it
I'm working on it, I really am

I tried to make some non-blackened gingerbread men tonight
I got a little too excited about decorating them.
I made a gingerbread version of me and my husband and took our picture along with our similarly sized jolly pal, Santa.
Ho ho ho. Please don't eat us Santa :)

I will admit while the gingerbread men came out pretty snazzy looking
they were a pain in my patushka to roll out and get on the cookies sheet with all of their limbs still attached

So I did the efficient/lazy thing and just scooped them instead :)

They look so pretty!
I was so  excited to taste one

yay not burnt cookies!

 ......but then I ate one

the best way I can describe how they taste is with this face

It's beginning...

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas, everywhere you goooooo.
Now that I have that song playing in your head...

I woke up the other morning in a haze between that real life oh nos I have to leave my warm bed and the awesome dream I was having about living in the mansion from Home Alone {Currently for sale for a cool 1.95 mill - hey a girl can dream right? Don't you like my mini mansion? it glows! and it only cost me a cool $10}

Anyways.....back to the story..... I looked outside my window in my fuzzy dream state, and I saw the following before my sleepy eyes

I'm pretty sure I tried to squeal, but I wasn't really awake yet, so I don't think any noise actually came out.

In my still fresh Christmas dream mind I wore this was snow in my yard.
I mean it totally looks like snow doesn't it?

I proceeded to run outside in my pjs.
my not at all warm in any way pjs
and the truth hit me as fast as the cold air did

no the snow fairy did not pay a special visit to me in Florida last night
just the Ice fairy

and he also left a nice patch of ice I had to scrape off my car as well

you almost got it right, Santa, almost.

Snowflake Garland DIY

If you are like me, the urge to make something awesome comes late at night after I've been on pinterest for way too long. Many times I don't have the necessary materials, expensive supplies, nor the skills of Martha Stewart to pull some of that stuff off. So, never fear broke, moderately skilled crafters! This one is for you!

What you'll need:
1. Computer Paper
2. Scissors
3. String
4. An Iron and dish cloth

Tips and tricks:
  • Step 5 is really the hardest part. You have to make sure your 'V' is even on both sides and not lopsided this will ensure all of your points come out even.
  • Don't be afraid to refold if necessary, the wrinkles will come out when you iron it.
  • Your design must stay below the dotted line in Step 7
  • Use the Iron on a low setting without water in the tank. Make sure the steam setting is off.
  • No Iron? No problem. Leave the snowflakes in a heavy book overnight.
  • My cutting is kind of intricate, it might be too hard for little ones, when in doubt use big shapes like triangles, hearts, circles galore.
  • Draw on your snowflake with a pencil because little pieces of ink will remain, I only used a bright color so that it would show up in the pictures.
  • You don't have to draw out a design
  • Other ideas for these awesome snowflakes
    • Glitter. You will be sparkly all over for at least 3 days.
    • Use colored construction paper
    • Add them to presents instead of a bow
